My son just graduated from college….YAY….congrats Evan!! And since I LOVE to throw parties, especially theme parties, we deliberated…or rather I bugged him, until he settled on a theme. Ultimately, we decided to have a Casino Party! It was so much fun for everyone, regardless of age! I wanted to spend my time and energy on decorations and the cake! Normally I kill myself trying to do everything before a big party so this time I decided to compromise. I had the main dishes catered and I made a cocktail, appetizers, sides, and dessert and had fun with the decorations.I got green felt poker tables cloths for all of the tables. We had them all set up with cards, poker chips, dice, LCR(Left, Center, Right) dice game, and Farkle. We also had Tip Boards, Corn Hole, and a Candy Jar guessing game. For decorations I ordered 12 inch square white boxes and black dot stickers to make giant dice and huge 11×17 playing cards to use as table decorations. I also got casino themed paper lanterns and hanging decorations and a bunch of other fun casino items. I got everything on Amazon…really cute stuff and very inexpensive. For appetizers I made Spicy Rosemary Maple Bar Nuts, Retro Cheese Spread, Caramelized Onion Dip and a meat and cheese tray including my favorite Stuffed Salami! Sides included Bacon and Jalapeno Deviled Eggs, Best Ever Picnic Slaw, and one of my BFF Lynn’s, Butterfinger Grape Salad…that’s right, I said Butterfinger…soooo good! And to top it all off this delectable Chocolate Casino Cake♠♣♥♦The cocktail of the evening was my own creation….Wild Jacks! It was totally delicious and pretty potent. One of those that kind of sneaks up on you. 😉 The entertainment for the evening was one of my oldest and dearest friends, Greg Ashby. We love to hear him sing and play guitar…definitely the highlight of the evening.Try a Casino Theme for your next party. It’s lots of fun and not too expensive. I hope to get all of the recipes mentioned here on the Food and Festivities blog very soon. For now try the Retro Cheese Spread and the Spicy Rosemary Maple Bar Nuts!
