Baked Chocolate Glazed Donuts



  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup dutch process cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp espresso powder
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil


  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla



  • Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Spray donut pan with cooking spray.
  • In a medium sized bowl add the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, espresso powder, chocolate chips, baking soda and salt, and mix to combine.
  • In a small bowl add eggs, vanilla, sour cream, milk, and vegetable oil, and whisk until well blended.
  • Stir wet ingredients into dry, and add mixture to a gallon size ziploc bag.
  • Using a pair of scissors snip off one corner of the bag.
  • Fill the pans 2/3 of the way full with batter.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • While the donuts are baking prepare the glaze.


  • Add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to a bowl and mix until smooth.  
  • Allow the donuts to cool slightly after coming out of the oven.
  • Dip the donuts in the glaze and place on a wire rack until the glaze is set (about 15 minutes).



    If glaze is too thick and more milk one teaspoon at a time until it reaches the desired consistency.
